Carla has a strong background in gymnastic where she was an elite competitor and coach. Outside of CrossFit she coaches pre-school gymnastics, spends time with her family & friends, getting outdoors, loves shopping and binge-watching Netflix.

She started CrossFit in 2008, where she ran a boot camp and gymnastics program at CF Taranis. Her favorite CF Workout is anything with gymnastics.

In 2010 she started coaching CrossFit. She loves seeing people making themselves better by moving and challenging their minds

Carla has completed her L1 CrossFit, CF Gymnastics, CF Mobility, NCCP Olympic Lifting & NCCP L2 Gymnastics Certification.

Carla also competed on Team Thunder for CF Taranis at regionals in 2012, where the team came in 15th place.

Ilyana has been a competitive athlete for most of her life, starting gymnastics at age 3 (competitive at age 10). She joined CrossFit at 10 years old to assist in her journey with competitive gymnastics and very quickly fell in love with the sport.

In 2016 she was forced to quit gymnastics due to injuries and joined CrossFit full time. In the 2017 CrossFit open she placed 1st in the 14/15-year-old girls division in Western Canada. Ilyana has competed in many different CrossFit competitions including; the CrossFit open, the Brand X Method - Teen Gauntlet, Festivus Games, and CrossFit Online regionals, Teen Division.

Ilyana has been coaching independently for 1 year but has mentored under her parents Steve and Marcie for 4 years. She is currently taking her Brand X method coaching course.

Ilyana’s favourite thing about CrossFit Northern ICE is the large family she has come to know and love. After losing her home at gymnastics, Ilyana found all the love and community she needed at CFNI and truly knew this was the home she always wanted.

Cam was introduced to CrossFit in 2012, by his brother-in-law on a family vacation, and quickly implemented the discipline in to his normal routine. Cam has been involved in conventional weight training and bodybuilding since the late 1990s and quickly fell in love with the efficient and high intensity strength and conditioning program. He replaced his normal two hour “do it yourself” sessions in the conventional gym with CrossFit workouts and began to see immediate results to his overall health and body composition. Having lost both of his parents at a young age to heart disease and cancer, Cam was eager to improved his life expectancy through CrossFit and other lifestyle changes to ensure he lived a long life for his own family.

Cam has been training at CFNI since it opened in the summer of 2014 and as one of the first adult members of the gym, has tirelessly promoted CrossFit, the facility and the coaching knowledge of Steve and Marcie O’Beirne to anyone that will listen. In his full-time employment, Cam has years of experience coaching co-workers and executives through difficult challenges in the workplace.  Additionally, Cam volunteers with the PGYSA and has been coaching youth soccer since 2014. Cam has his Brand X Method Kids Certificate and is excited to continue to pass on his knowledge to the members of CFNI in the official capacity of a coach.

Cam can often been seen at the gym with his three young children who have grown up at CFNI, playing while their Dad works out. Recently, Cam’s wife Nadine has joined CFNI as a member and the Meroniuk’s have made CrossFit a family experience.

Amie is a mom of a busy toddler and loves doing activities as a family. She enjoys hiking, camping, biking, and most outdoor activities.

Playing sports has been a big part of her life, she has always enjoyed fitness. Amie discovered CrossFit in 2014. She competed on a team at the Okanagan Valley Throwdown.

Amie started coaching in 2018 at CFNI because she loves watching people transform and reach their goals, no matter how big or how small and the confidence that it builds (snatch PR or jumping on a box for the first time). Her favorite workouts are anything that includes barbell movements like DT, Nancy and Grace.

Amie has successfully completed the The Brand X Method™ Basic Kids Certificate Course, NCCP Olympic Weightlifting Comp Intro – Club Coach Course, Sean Lind Gymnastics Seminar and Will Dean Rowing Clinic, as well as, other workshops in weightlifting and gymnastics.

CrossFit has completely changed her view of fitness. She used to have that one goal to be skinny. “I would never have thought that someone telling me my thighs looked bigger would be such a flattering compliment. I feel so much more comfortable in my own skin then I ever have since I’ve started CrossFit”.  As a female, she loves to help others, especially younger girls learn this confidence and change their views of themselves.

She believes every member is an athlete no matter what level they are at. She enjoys the community and feeling that these are “my people”. The community is amazing. CrossFit has been something her and her husband could do together, and it’s become a lifestyle for both of them and hope to continue the lifestyle with their growing family.

“My favorite thing about CFNI is it’s so family oriented. They offer classes for people of all ages starting at 3+. I feel it’s important to have fitness be a part of our family’s lifestyle”.

Christina enjoys exploring all of Prince George’s natural beauty with her family, including her dogs.

She first started CrossFit in 2014 and was drawn in by the variety. Her favorite part of CrossFit is the social atmosphere.

Christina started coaching in 2018 because it gave her an opportunity to use her skills in a very flexible and fun way.

Her favorite thing about CFNI is how inclusive it is. No matter who you are or your level of fitness or experience, there is a place for you in this community!

Christina has her Human Kinetics from U.B.C.. She has completed her CF Level 1, participated in the Sean Lind Conjugate Gymnastics Seminar, and Will Dean Rowing Clinic.

Riley initially started CrossFit to help with his hockey training in 2013. It did not take long for him to fall in love with the program but most importantly the community.

Riley considers himself an oddball as he enjoys any workout with thrusters and burpees.

He decided to take up coaching in 2017 because he knew that he wanted to pursue Kinesiology and figured it was a good first step to immerse himself with real life application right away. It has given him an avenue to continually apply the knowledge he’s gaining.

Riley has completed his CrossFit Level 1, CrossFit Gymnastics Course, NCCP: Weightlifting (In training), & Track and Field (Trained).

Outside of CrossFit, most of his time is spent studying as he’s in the second year of his Kinesiology Degree.

Riley still actively tries to participate in the Hockey community of PG by running some dryland and skills camps.

“I feel the thing that sets CFNI a part is their Community. I realize, every CrossFit gym will say this, but CFNI has full households coming to the gym as members. It’s a spot where the kids classes inspire the adults and vice versa. It makes the gym feel like a home. I’ve certainly made it my home away from home”.
